About the Job:
Aircraft mechanics play a critical role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of aircraft. They perform maintenance tasks according to the standards specified in the aircraft maintenance data, working under the supervision of certifying staff. Their duties include assisting certifying staff, reporting defects, performing maintenance checks, and handling various servicing operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist Certifying Staff:
- Provide support during maintenance tasks to ensure all work is carried out to the required standards.
Report Defects:
- Immediately notify certifying staff of any defects found on the aircraft.
Perform Maintenance Checks:
- Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance checks and aircraft servicing tasks under supervision.
Carry Out Maintenance Tasks:
- Execute maintenance tasks to the specified standards while under the supervision of certifying staff.
Notify Supervisors:
- Inform supervisors of any defects or mistakes requiring rectification to meet maintenance standards.
Aircraft Towing and Pushback:
- Perform towing and pushback operations, including ground-to-cockpit communication.
Replenish and Service Aircraft:
- Handle fueling, hydraulic fluids, oil, gas, water, toilet sanitary fluid, cleaning, lubrication, and other servicing operations.
Handle Aircraft at Arrival and Departure:
- Manage aircraft at arrival and departure, including placing cones, wheel chocks, performing external walkarounds, and handling ground-to-cockpit communication.
Adhere to Safety Precautions:
- Follow safety precautions and warnings as directed by the manufacturer and the organization's safety policy.
Maintenance Procedures:
Use Proper Tools:
- Utilize the correct tools during maintenance as per the instructions for continued airworthiness and ensure they are maintained in good condition.
Tool Control:
- Manage tools effectively during maintenance, ensuring their serviceability and correct location.
Draw and Return Tools/Materials:
- Obtain required tools, materials, and components from technical stores and ensure they are returned in normal condition or report any damage.
Dispose of Expendable Items:
- Properly dispose of expendable items in designated areas according to health and safety regulations.
Comprehend Tasks:
- Ensure full understanding of the task before commencing any maintenance work on the aircraft.
Safety Gear:
- Wear provided safety gear as instructed during maintenance tasks.
Skills & Qualifications:
Licensing:
- A CARC or EASA license (B1/B2) is a plus.
Education:
- Diploma in Airframe & Powerplant, Bachelor of Engineering, or a related field.
